Feedback on our NGO

We did a project where we talked / advertised about our NGO in a presentation the other day and got feedback from everyone in class.
Good Points
I was surprised to see how most of the feedback was more positive than I was expecting it to be. Because "Death Penalty" is a dark and heavy topic, I was worried that our NGO would have a scary, creep, and dark image but I was very happy to see that some people said  although it was a heavy topic they were able to understand the presentation.
One of the mail goals of our NGO is to educate people in the death penalty in order to change their minds, so I was also glad to see that the majority said they were surprised about what really goes on in the death penalty.
We received one question on the survey, whether we showed the domestic survey or not. I do believe we showed both the surveys, but it may have seemed like we did not show it because we did not cut and paste both the Japanese survey and the domestic survey on paper.
Bad points
We got 1 (1=very poor) on the last question if we went the extra mile in making a website, or a social networking site.
I do believe our NGO would have looked a lot more realistic and believable if we made our own temporary NGO site.

Thank you for the feedback!

  1. Your presentation was well-organized and had detailed information! I was surprised that taking death penalty costs more than taking life imprisonment. Your short movie made it easy for us to understand how death penalty costs a lot and has other difficulties. However, in my opinion, death penalty shoud continue to be done to atrocious offenders. I cann't understand why people who killed people can be alive after that. It is fact that there are some exceptions which the offenders had to kill a person to save their own life, but death penalty shoud not be tottaly banned.

  2. Keisuke's remarks make me wonder if you were able to change any of the opinions of your classmates through your presentation. Even if you didn't, I think you made a great attempt, and I was glad about how open-minded you were and willing to alter your opinions based on your exposure to new information and the opinions of others. I felt that there was a real evolution in your thinking.

  3. I had a positive view about execution, and even after I heard what you said in the presentaion, I think I would stick to my opinion. The criminals who receive the deah penalty are people that killed other people. In Japan, there are trials for judging the crime three times at the most. The judges have a reason to give the judgement of death penalty, and I do not think there are any misjudgements in that. A person's life is precious and we must treasure it. However, I think the criminal deserves what he or she did.

  4. This topic is very difficult because it’s connected with the human lives which are the most important in our life. You did a very supportive presentation by using the results of questionnaires well. I had thought that death penalty cost more than imprisonment for life. So, I was surprised to hear the fact that imprisonment for life cost more than death penalty. In my opinion, it’s impossible for me to easily agree to death penalty, however, I highly demand that murders or terrorists compensate what they did. If my family is victim, I may want the plaintiff to be punished. Everyone may think so. So, it’s difficult to abolish death penalty.

  6. Even after I listen to your presentation, I still don't know whether execution is really good thing or not. I think the murders should make up for their sin through their life, but at the same time, I think they should be killed as they did to the victims.
Originally, we shouldn't judge subjectively, but we do it unconsciously. It is really hard for us to think about execution objectively. We may well think that we want the murder to be killed if our important people such as family, friends and boyfriend or girlfriend were killed. We have to face this controversial issue for the rest of our life.

  7. I don’t think that death penalty is necessary, because life in prison is more severe. Death penalty sounds like very heavy punishment because it includes the word ‘death’. But I think that criminals should live with regretting their crime. Concerning about the family of victim, they have to die. However we should think which is harder for criminals. Also, through discussion in this class, I know that death penalty needs someone who makes criminals to die. I think the care for executioner is also needed. And as you said death penalty costs more than life in prison. So I am totally against death penalty.

  8. This topic is very difficult and serious because it decide the person’s life. I didn’t have the knowledge about death penalty deeply, but your presentation was easy to understand and gave me some new information. I was surprised that taking death penalty cost more than imprisonment for life, because I thought it was opposite before I hard your presentation. Before I heard your presentation, I thought death penalty should be abolished because even a criminal killed some people, he or she is the same human who has life. However I don’t know whether death penalty should be abolished or not, after I heard your presentation. Death penalty seemed to be one of the necessary punishments.

  9. Your topic is ordinal one, but this topic is necessary to discuss. I think death penalty should be abolished not because criminal is miserable, but because criminal should reflect and make up for his crime while he is in prison. If criminal die, he can not think about how bad thing murder is. I think we should introduce life imprisonment.
